Multi-Currency Pricing and Settlement
Update Time:2026.09.181. Overview
To better accommodate the pricing and settlement needs of global institutions and merchants, WeChat Pay provides the multi-currency pricing and settlement capability. It is designed for institutions and merchants that operate in multiple countries or regions, allowing them to display product prices to users in local currencies and to receive settlement in the currencies they need.
Once the eligibility requirements are met and the application is approved, multiple settlement currencies can be configured for a single merchant ID, and each settlement currency can be configured with its own pricing currencies. Transactions placed in a pricing currency are converted into the corresponding settlement currency according to the configured mapping, and settled to the institution or merchant.
2. Product Introduction
The merchant places the order in the pricing currency of the product. After the user completes the payment, WeChat Pay converts the transaction amount from the pricing currency into the configured settlement currency at the settlement exchange rate, and settles the funds to the merchant. The settlement exchange rate is sourced from official fair-value channels and is updated daily.
Configuration example:
Merchant ID | Configured pricing currencies | Settlement currency | Description |
|---|---|---|---|
Merchant ID M | USD, CNY, PHP | USD | Transactions placed in USD, CNY or PHP are all converted into USD for settlement |
HKD, MOP | HKD | Transactions placed in HKD or MOP are all converted into HKD for settlement | |
SGD, MYR | SGD | Transactions placed in SGD or MYR are all converted into SGD for settlement | |
EUR, GBP | EUR | Transactions placed in EUR or GBP are all converted into EUR for settlement |

Notes on configuration:
1) Settlement currencies: The settlement currencies available to merchants using multi-currency settlement are the same as the settlement currencies supported by WeChat Pay. In principle, any settlement currency supported by WeChat Pay can be enabled. A receiving bank account must be provided for each settlement currency. The account requirements are the same as those for the default settlement currency, and by default only same-name settlement is supported.
2) Pricing currencies: Each settlement currency can be configured with its own pricing currencies. WeChat Pay supports 133 pricing currencies, and there is no upper limit on the number of currencies that can be configured. Pairings between pricing currencies and settlement currencies are being rolled out progressively. For the pairings currently supported, see section 3.4.
3) A pricing currency can only be configured under one settlement currency, and cannot be configured under multiple settlement currencies at the same time. The same rule applies to CNY.
4) Integrated merchants are not yet eligible to apply for the multi-currency pricing and settlement capability.
3. FAQ
3.1 Configuration
3.1.1 Can configured pricing currencies be modified or deleted?
Yes. Modifications and deletions take effect immediately once the configuration is submitted.
A configuration change takes effect from the moment it becomes effective, not from the start of a calendar day. Within the same day, transactions that take place before the change becomes effective are converted and settled according to the previous mapping, and transactions that take place after it becomes effective are converted and settled according to the new mapping. This means that the same pricing currency may correspond to two different settlement currencies within the same day. Merchants can query the pricing currency and settlement currency of each transaction in the statement.
3.2 Exchange rates
3.2.1 How is the settlement amount of a transaction calculated?
Example of a merchant in the Philippines (pricing in PHP, settlement in USD):

1) The merchant places the order in the actual pricing currency and amount of the product - 100PHP
2) The WeChat Pay user completes the payment at the preferential PHP/CNY exchange rate quoted by WeChat Pay - 12CNY
3) WeChat Pay calculates the USD settlement amount using the PHP/USD fair-value exchange rate provided by an overseas bank, and this amount is the settlement amount payable to the merchant - 2USD
4) WeChat Pay settles the funds to the merchant based on the settlement amount converted in real time - 2USD
3.2.2 How often does WeChat Pay update the settlement exchange rate?
WeChat Pay updates the settlement exchange rate once a day. The update time may vary by currency pair. In general, some currencies are updated at 10:30 in the morning, and the remaining ones are updated at 17:30 in the afternoon.
3.2.3 If a refund is initiated for an order placed in a pricing currency, how is the refund settlement exchange rate calculated?
The refund settlement exchange rate is equal to the payment settlement exchange rate, so merchants do not bear the risk of exchange rate fluctuations.
3.2.4 How can merchants query the settlement exchange rate?
Merchants can obtain the settlement exchange rate in the real-time transaction flow, or query the settlement exchange rate of each transaction in the transaction statement. Obtaining the settlement exchange rate through the real-time transaction APIs requires upgrading to API V3. Multi-currency transactions can also be completed normally when orders are placed with API V2, but the settlement exchange rate cannot be obtained in real time.
1) For payment transactions, the settlement exchange rate can be obtained through Query Order / Payment Result Notification
Field | Description |
|---|---|
amount.exchange_rate.type | Fixed value "SETTLEMENT_RATE" |
amount.exchange_rate.rate | Value of the settlement exchange rate |
2) For refund transactions, the settlement exchange rate can be obtained through Query Single Refund / Refund Notification
Field | Description |
|---|---|
amount.exchange_rate.type | If the pricing currency of the refund order = the settlement currency, this field returns USERPAYMENT_RATE, which represents the exchange rate of the user's payment; if the pricing currency of the refund order ≠ the settlement currency, this field returns SETTLEMENT_RATE, which represents the settlement exchange rate |
amount.exchange_rate.rate | Exchange rate value |
3) The settlement exchange rate can be queried in the statement
If a merchant has not upgraded to the V3 transaction APIs, the merchant can apply for statement SFTP configuration, through which WeChat Pay provides statements in the V3 format (while order placement and other APIs remain on V2).
Field | Description |
|---|---|
Exchange Rate | If the pricing currency = the settlement currency, this represents the payment exchange rate (pricing currency - payment currency rate); if the pricing currency ≠ the settlement currency, this represents the settlement exchange rate (settlement currency - pricing currency rate) |
Refund Exchange Rate | If the pricing currency = the settlement currency, this represents the payment exchange rate (pricing currency - payment currency rate); if the pricing currency ≠ the settlement currency, this represents the settlement exchange rate (settlement currency - pricing currency rate) |
If the statement currently used by the merchant still contains a summary row, that summary row is only applicable when there is a single settlement currency. If multiple settlement currencies are configured, transactions in the different settlement currencies are all included in the same statement, and the value in the summary row is not meaningful for reference. Merchants should calculate the totals separately by settlement currency. The settlement amounts of the different currencies can be aggregated using the following five fields:
Field name | Field description |
|---|---|
Settlement Currency Type | Three character ISO code for the currency which was used for processing the payment (settlement currency) |
Settlement Currency Amount | Transaction amount in settlement currency |
Refund Settlement Currency Type | Three character ISO code for the currency which was used for processing the refund (settlement currency) |
Refund Amount for merchant in settlement currency | Transaction amount in settlement currency |
Fee | Fee charged/refunded by the Wechat Pay for processing the transaction(in settlement currency). |
3.3 Settlement
3.3.1 How is the minimum settlement amount applied for each currency?
When a merchant has configured multiple settlement currencies, the minimum settlement amount and the settlement cycle of each currency are calculated independently.
*For example, if the minimum settlement amount for USD is 800USD and the minimum settlement amount for AUD is 1100AUD: if the total USD transactions for the day exceed 800USD while the total AUD transactions for the day are below 1100AUD, only the USD transactions will be settled on that day, and the AUD transactions will not be settled.
